Kites used for Speed Flying ?

On Gin Website it mentions speed flyers used to use modified kites before suitable speed flying wings where available - I would be interested to know from Which kite manufacture, the designs/make of kite used and what size was used ?

The wing/kite in the video is an Aerodyne 11m Wombat.

Pilot is Francois Bon when he was was still working for the French manufacturer. He has now moved to Gin as Test pilot, designer & their Acro manager.
