Speedriding in Hasliberg
If looking for new video angles as seen in the above video you could create your own custom Camera Mountings...
The following photos are from Marcel Roethlisberger aka http://www.youtube.com/speedrider001 showing his custom camera setup as used in the above video.
Note: Click above images for larger version
The camera mount is easy to build...
You will need a carbon fibre plate a few inches square - which is heated and bent into shape.
There are 4 slots which are cut and allows velcro straps to be attached these should be long enough to wrap around you leg to hold the mount in place. With a single hole drilled in the centre of the carbon plate which secures the 360° adjustable camera holder.
Was looking at some video cameras on the web and found this one...

Oregon Scientific - All Terrain Camera (ATC2000)
which looks ideal for Speedriding - Kitesurfing - paragliding etc... shock proof and waterproof

Is anyone using one ?
if so - could you let me know what is the video quality like ?
Bought this camera last year. It's ok but dont expect super quality. The one thing that bugged me most that it is claiming 30 frames a second, in reality its between 23 and 24 (Quicktime - Movie inspector). When looking around fast with camera on helmet picture tearing does happen. Wouldnt reccommend it highly but guess its ok for entry level. Hope this helps.
Cheers Christoph
PS: Anyone knows what kind of camera and attachment Francois Bon is using (Acro base)?
Thanks - yes info is helpful...
Like the idea of the camera being waterproof as it also makes it suitable for kitesurfing etc.
Do you or anyone else have any speedriding video footage from an ATC2K camera online or can post a link to the movie file ?
(Actual download sample from the caamera - would be better than a YouTube copy... as the FLV and YouTube viewer kills the quality.)
re: Francois Bon video question - not sure if any of the Acro-Base guys are registered on here ? so have sent them an email to ask - if I get a reply will post details...
Heres the link to some raw footage: had a look at it and yes its pretty much what you can expect, the only thing you can't see in this sample is the picture tearing:
http://ctchutes.com/albums/albums/Batch/Dana/ATC-2000_raw_sample.AVI
(open this file with quicktime and then go to Window -> Show Movie Inspector -> press the play button and you will see the 23- 24 FPS instead of the claimed 30!)
heres a you tube example of picture tearing with the ATC 2000 (Helmet cam view):

hope that helps
Cheers
