Dwhenline

I used to live in upstate NY

as far as speed riding with skiis, well good luck just not gonna happen much.  Tree line is too low on the east coast.

speed flying may slightly better, especially coastal dunes.

I would get the paragliding license.  It just simplifies many aspects of the sport.  It is not like Europe in the USA, many of the club sites demand that you have a USHPA membership.  you may jeopardize the site if you get caught.  that would make you very unpopular.

Best of luck

I'm just getting into speedriding from a long term skiing and short term paragliding background(although my GIN Nano 14 is great for speeflying too) out in New Zealand, but will be moving back to upstate New York this fall. I will also be spending some time in Ohio. If anyone is keen to meet up and start an East Coast crew I would be down to be part of that!

Shoot me an email sometime at rovito.m@gmail.com

update: found nags head, NC which is a bigass sand dune apparently, and shenendoah which is NPS. both are a few hour drive from yorktown. not sure if a license is required for either spot. how does the community feel about people launching from spots that require a license, without one? im used to being a BASE ninja and doing just about everything illegaly? just wondering how you experienced guys feel...........

Getting into speed flying here in PA. I do paraglide around VA, MD and PA. I would recommend learning to paraglide as well if you want to use club sites. Otherwise its quite a pain to find places to speed fly. Get in touch with me when you make the move. There are a few places to fly that arent club sites we could try out.
