Speed flying London

Submitted by shorty

Hi

Any speed flyers in or around London or the South East? A friend and I have just done a five day speedriding course in Valfrejus and keen to do some flying back here. Mark from Zen Speedflyers has been very supportive and offered us assistance if we make our way up to him which we hope to - but at the same time we're keen to find people down this way that we could fly with more locally.

Any contacts/help very gratefully received.

Thanks
Richard

No accurate figures, as depends on many factors such as pilot weight and location etc. etc. so for a very rough guesstimate would not be less than 25mph  - more likely closer to 30mph as the Nano isn't very soaring friendly due to its design.

Simon, who is your insurance with? Getting that in the UK without a paragliding club pilot and sub 20m extension seems impossible.

I'm also London based, want to try and get some soaring in somewhere in the SE but not sure where is best, i'm thinking coastal for more steady winds.

Not tried any soaring on my 11m nano yet, anyone have recomendations on a good wind speed range?

I am from London.

I am a skydiver and a paraglider pilot but no speedrider...
I have seen many videos but last week in Langar I saw some videos from some Langar people doing speedriding and I said to my girlfriend that next time I go down to Devils **** or BoPeep I will take my skydiving canopy to start doing ground handling and maybe do some top to bottoms to see how the canopy performs...

Cheers for the offer - have only just seen this (plus, in any case have nowhere near enough credit with my wife to get another weekend away!).

Hope you had a great time.

Hi Richard,I've just found your post regarding London speed flyers.

I've just finished a course in Val d'isere with the UCPA and now have the basic licence to buy insurance (in France anyway). Am keen to get going again soon and don't know where / how are the best places. I'm not a member of this forum so please contact me on simon@cruel-summer.com, as I'd love to hear more about your plans...

Best regards,

Simon
