Ozone - Bullet 008

The Bullet 008 is an entirely new wing for the 2008 season. After listening to feedback on the original Bullet, Ozone continued prototyping through 2007, and totally revised the 2008 wing to answer all of the requests.

Each size of the Bullet 008 is a perfect scale in size and behavior. Simply choose your size according to the wing loading you want - high wing loading for experts, low wing loading for beginners.

  • Easy launch. This is imperative for new speed-flyers, and the sometimes difficult launching conditions that can be experienced in the mountains (tailwind, crosswind, etc).
  • Relatively slow speed take-off. the profile is high lift, allowing early take-off and excellent slower speed performance.
  • In flight stability. The line configuration and sail tension of the Bullet 008 help reduce in-flight glider movement to a minimum.
  • Handling. Speed-flying wings have very high wing-loading and therefore the handling must be smooth and progressive, with a long brake range to help prevent pilots from over-controlling the wing.
  • Landing. The high lift profile and moderate sail tension allow the wing to be slowed down easily for soft, slow speed landings.
  • Durability. OzTech 30gm2:This cloth has been tested from the Polar ice-caps to the Sahara desert and we are very confident that it is the best material possible for Speed-Flying.
  • Cousin Dyneema lines: these water tolerant braided lines are highly resistant to cutting by ski edges and can withstand heavy use in wet environments.

The new profile is more stable and slightly less efficient, for a better (higher) sink rate in the turn and a more carving, lift-free feel making it easier to stay near the terrain.

A new plan-form and line arrangement have completely changed the Bullet 008’s roll and turn characteristics. The sink rate of the Bullet 008 is slightly higher at trim speed, and noticeably higher in the turn, with no climb or acceleration at the turn’s end - ideal for carving big turns close to terrain. The Bullet 008 has highly increased roll stability in all configurations.

The Atak Harness

The Bullet 008 comes with the Atak Harness as an option. The harness was designed by pro skiers and pilots specifically for the new sport of Speed Flying with the help of Pierre Bouiloux of SupAir, with a special focus on the best configuration for transitioning from skiing to flying positions.

The standard Bullet 008 package includes Backpack, Inner bag, and Stuff Sack. Anti-friction rings on the shoulder straps allow transition from standing to sitting positions quickly and easily. The harness naturally positions the pilot in a skiing stance, so that you are never caught off-balance while speedflying. When you transition from standing to sitting, you will be completely ‘in’ the harness, not hanging out of it. The leg straps automatically scoop you into the harness, with no struggle to sit comfortably. This also makes the harness ideal for tandem flying and dune soaring as well.

The Bullet Snow Stake System - The Bullet has two sewn loops on the top sail, and comes with small plastic stakes that can be attached to the top of the wing. These ‘Snow Stakes’ are very useful for laying your wign out on steep snow or in tail-wind launch conditions.

To use the snow stakes, simply push them into the snow surface a few centimeters. You may leave the snow stakes in the snow and launch normally, the snow stakes will pull out and will not affect the flying characteristics of your wing.
