Aska A² [2012]

General

The new A² range, available in 8,10,12 and 14 m², built in 3 risers, offers polyvalent and homogenous wings, which will be the best friends of just out of school riders to competition riders that want a fast, sane and solid wing, depending on the size.

The turn and the dynamic launching ability, as well as the speed range, has been trimmed to get a wing that is a real pleasure to ride in big mountain areas. It is truly a free-ride toy.

However, as well as the A10 range, it has an incredible rolling and pitching stability.

Recommended prices (Taxes Included) :

8 sqm : 1199 €
10 sqm : 1249 €
12 sqm : 1299 €
14 sqm : 1349 €

The wing is delivered with the new rucksack and compression bag.

Weight range and level :

The weight/ wing size ratio is given as an indication. If you have a doubt on which to choose, just ask a professional or the school where you learned speedriding.

To learn about your Total Flight Weight, you need to climb on the scales fully equipped (with skis, boots, wing and harness on).

Build

ASKA gliders are designed to match the toughest conditions

On a speed riding glider, the bulk of the burden is being borne by the front (A / B), we chose to strengthen the ribs with extra material, connecting the points of attachment to the upper surface, which allows a better distribution of forces.
The ribs are made of Dominico-tex Hardfinish 42g / m² to limit deformation and aging of the profile .

The lower lines are made of non-sheathed Dyneema 1,9 mm, have a breaking strength of 500 kg per line. All lines are manufactured in France.
For readability during the preflight, and to reduce the risk of knots in the lines misrouted harness or brake, each group of lines has different color. Red for the front and yellow for C and D , Brake line system is blue / green.

The trim, very effective, has three positions indicated by a seam on the strap. The stop used to set the trim is very powerful, which prevents any accidental slipping.
The comfort and grip of the brakes is increased by the trackball over the brake handles. This will make brake control and flight more precise.

Fabrics :
Ribs : Dominico hard finish 42gr/m²
Upper skin, lower skin : Dominico 42gr/m²

Bridles :
High : Cousin 100% dyneema, 1.6mm, resistance à la rupture mini : 340daN
Low : Cousin 100% dyneema, 1.9mm, resistance à la rupture mini : 500daN

Behavioural Test

Asks-Sports have conducted various tests before beginning to sell their products, to control the behaviour of the wings, when facing the risks linked to the speedriding practice.

Frontal collapse
Procedure : While flying straight, the pilot pulls frankly on the front risers and let them go immediately.
Result : The leading edge collapses on itself withour folding under the wing and reopens immediately without any dangerous back pitching and without any pilot action.
Aymetrical collapse
Procedure :While flying straight, the pilot pulls frankly on thetwo thirds of one of the front risers and let them go immediately.
Result : The wings reopens immediately with a direction change inferior to 45°. There is no pitching and the rolling is inferior to 45°.
Backstall behaviour
Procedure : While flying straight, the pilot brakes the wing symetrically until the wing begins to backstall and he shoot ups the hands immediately.
Result : The wing resumes immediately its flight and there is no dangerous pitching or turn induced.
Behaviour when facing a counter-slope
Procedure : While skiing, arms high, the pilot crosses a counter-slope important enough to distend the lines.
Result : The wing stays in form, above the pilot, it doesn't backstall or double the pilot. The pilot can resume skiing behind the counter-slope without any specific action.
Rolling stability
Procedure : In straight flight, the pilot makes a steep turn of 45-60° and release brusquely the brake at the steepest angle of the turn.
Result : The wing resume straight flight after a light counter-roll.
Wing launching, uphill & downhill
Procedure : The pilot launches while sliding along a slope equivalent to a blue ski slope, hand symetrically placed at shoulder level. He doesn't stall the wing nor holds the front risers.
Result :
Neutral trim : The wing comes gently over the pilot's head, whithout any action of the pilot necessary. It doesn't have any tendency to go too far.
Full trim : The wing comes gently over the pilot's head, whithout any action of the pilot necessary. It doesn't have any tendency to go too far.
Landing
Procedure : The pilot, in horizontal flight, arms high, brakes at 50% of the braking ability while landing.
Result : The landing is smooth without any specific action and without rolling or pitch
