South face of Grandes Jorasses

World first in speedriding: the south face of Grandes Jorasses

Antoine Montant, winner of Speedflying Pro Les Arcs 2010, was invited by the GIN pilot Francois Bon (2nd of the 2010 event) for a "premiere" in the Alps. The location was kept secret until the last minute. As an extraordinary gift, the organizers had planned to offer this descent to the winner of the 2010 event, who was crowned "the best speedrider of the year" after two big mountain tasks. The total dimension of Speedriding is experienced in Freeride, in high mountains such as the ‘Aiguille Rouge’ in Les Arcs, and on the Italian side of the mythic ‘Grandes Jorasses’, a 3000m height run between séracs and snow fields. These two exceptional pilots explored this new part of the planet with their mini-gliders, using the full extent of their outstanding skills to ride some complicated and inaccessible terrain.

"This face had been calling me for a long time, so big and impressive, and it was cool to be with Antoine again after the Eiger descent we did together in 2006…8 long minutes of ‘discussion’ with this enormous face, in a total osmosis with my Fluid… We rode with a view to enjoying to the maximum what Speedriding gives the most: Pleasure!..." explained Francois Bon.

"Winning in les Arcs for the third consecutive year was already pure happiness…and then going for this première on this huge face, a small man in the immense expanse of snow and ice…that was sick!.. We rode without pressure, purely for friendship and fun…" said Antoine Montant.
