LittleCloud - Goose

The Goose is LittleCloud’s new addition for 2012-2013!

LittleCloud know that geese are excellent migratory birds, who fly in groups, despite their ungainly shape they are incredible in flight, we mustn’t be fooled by their appearance!

The Concept: To provide a high performance wing, whilst maintaining the characteristics of a mini-wing (no pitch, reactive, direct piloting, fun and safe).

LittleCloud believe that a wing will be notably safer if it has no pitch (so fewer complications and flying incidents, from the wing overshooting), large brake travel, and reduced aspect ratio (no risk of cravats).

The Development: Development of the Goose began during autumn 2011, whilst flying the Spiruline with a cocoon harness. LittleCloud sought to optimise the link between pilot and wing. It’s a compact wing with an aspect ratio of 4.7, a short line-set, optimised arc, 3 lines, and an ultra thin profile. The result is impressive: a glide ratio of 9.5, brake travel of 60cm yet offering pilot precision of 10/20cm. A hands-up speed of 42km/hr + 10 accelerated with a slight compromise on the glide. It’s turning circle is compact allowing the tightest of turns and it’s hands-up glide allows for long transitions.

How does the Goose compare with a classic paraglider?
It’s maneuverability compensates for it’s slightly reduced ability to climb in thermals.

Transitions with a light headwind are more efficient. In terms of active piloting the Goose offers a lot more fun. It’s ability to stay up in light conditions is obviously reduced compared to a paraglider, however in 95% of conditions the Goose can follow any paraglider.
