U-Turn - Speedmaster

You don’t know if you should go flying or skiing? From now on this is a question of the past! The new SPEEDMASTER ad the SPEEDMASTER ROCKET from U-Turn are now available. And, as to be expected by U-Turn customers, this new concept is equipped with a unique innovation: The Variable Brake Geometry (VBG).

Given the small size of the trim, the SPEEDMASTER flies rapidly, but overall balanced. Along with the VBG the flight characteristic is sharpened in all concerns. Now it is the “SPEEDMASTER ROCKET”. This is how it works: The base cord that leads to the three separate brake cords is equipped with a sewn up casing near the dividing point onto which a strap can be attached – the U-Hook. The proper strap is sewn to the base cord at the point where it branches off. In opened status the braking geometry is effectively in the factory-provided suspended normal status. The braking distance is reduced when the strap is connected to the U-Hook. The bypassed part of the cord hangs downward in a loop and the traction occurs via the U-Hook. The further away from the branching point the U-Hook is sewn onto the cord, the stronger the effect of the tightening of the breaking features and thereby the trimming features will be. In others words, U-Turn is offering two parachutes for the price of one, making speedriding extra fun. Slogan: The mountain calls.

Speedriding is perhaps the coolest sport in the world. Every descent becomes an exceptional pleasure and experience with the SPEEDMASTER soaring above you. Whether you fly swiftly along a relief or glide more comfortably with long pauses between flights – that’s up to you. The SPEEDMASTER makes everything possible, coming in four different sizes from 8, 10, 12 and 14 sqm. And with the VBG, you can adjust the performance of the canopy according to your own needs.

Speedriding beginners are most comfortable with the 14 square-metre sized SPEEDMASTER. This variety can be slowed down more like a normal paraglider, making it the SPEEDMASTER of first choice for beginners in this sport. Of course it is very agile and cannot be directly compared to the glide performance of the clearly much larger paraglider trim. One thing above all is experienced when it is allowed to glide freely: Speeeeeeed. Even with the normal brake adjustment, the SPEEDMASTER 14 is equipped with really cool drive qualities and even when lightly braked it turns away relatively evenly. As the “ROCKET” the flight character changes effectively: The outermost trim makes the glider noticeably handier. As a result you can also jet swiftly towards a valley with the 14 square metre SPEEDMASTER.

The character of the SPEEDMASTER changes ever more to a purebred sport machine according to the decreasing size of the glider. However, the smaller ones are meant exclusively for pros with a need for speed. Whereas the 14 sqm glider rises without any trouble even under difficult conditions and always quickly builds up momentum after a hard touch-down and is also sufficiently uncomplicated to land, the smaller gliders have all the same attributes, at least comparatively speaking. Yes, the SÜEEDMASTERS 12, 10 and 8 are also good for taking off, offer momentum, are collapse proof and can be safely landed – but you have to know how to do it. And as far as the 8 sqm glider is concerned, you have to know how to do it real well.

The U-Turn SPEEDMASTER is equipped with a water-repellent nylon cloth on the lower and upper canvases. Since speed and performance are not a problem for this glider, the line profiles can be copiously chosen in order to generate extra safety through special resilience. The SPEEDMASTER is available in attractive colour-combinations with the new U-Turn claw design.
